Submitted by admin on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 15:01Scranton/Wilkes-Barre fans will have plenty of familiar faces to cheer for this post season as 16 former SWB players and one former coach take part in the 2008 American League and National League Divisional Series (LDS) currently underway.
The Phillies lead the way with 12 former Scranton/Wilkes-Barre players and one former coach. The rest of the post season series are represented as well with at least one former Scranton/Wilkes-Barre player on an active roster or on the coaching staff in each of the LDS being contested.

The Falcons and Lions are not strangers, as Nassau has been on Lackawanna’s schedule every season since the Falcons initiated its football program in 1993. Prior to the Oct. 4 contest, Nassau held a 12-3 win-loss edge, having also won last season’s game by a score of 33-21.

Submitted by admin on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 14:54Throop’s Kevin Borrelli burst through the ribbon to take first place laurels in Sunday’s 13th annual Steamtown Marathon.
By virtue of his win, Borrelli was No. 1 among 1,607 competitors from 37 states as well as Canada, Italy and Palua. The marathon attracted 1,927 registrants, of whom 1,607 actually started the race and 1,582 finished, said marathon assistant director Jim Cummings.
Sundays’ challenge was Borrelli’s first experience as a competitor in the event which covers 26.2 miles from Forest City High School to N. Washington Avenue at Courthouse Square.
