Corruption
AN EXPOSÉ ON WHO’S BEHIND IT, WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU AND YOUR BOTTOM LINE.
Embezzlement. Graft. Extortion. Bribery. Fraud. No matter what it’s called or what form it takes, corruption hurts public morale, injures the residents of northeastern Pennsylvania, and destroys the local economy.
Scranton, Pennsylvania has long been known for its corruption, from rumors of the bribery of public officials to sometimes almost ridiculous cases of nepotism, time and time again and consistently throughout the years. No city is perfect, of course, and it might be said that, among the most egregious cases of corruption in our nation, Scranton holds up pretty well, but the stories themselves are still, at least in some cases, unsolved mysteries where unanswered questions abound and tens or perhaps even hundreds of millions of dollars float through the system unchecked.
You have undoubtedly heard the reports, listened to the gossip, and maybe even faced a loss or two - whether you know it or not - from something that has long been ignored or perhaps even, at least occasionally, deliberately concealed. With over $50 billion in corrupt money finding its way into western bank accounts and tax havens (per Christian Aid), corruption itself is no small issue, but the best way to begin tackling it is one city at a time. “The Scranton Post” officially begins the story of Corruption in Scranton, a multi-issue and exclusive exposé with no holds barred, naming names, giving answers, and explaining the unexplained.
Each week, “The Scranton Post” will reveal what goes on behind the scenes in Scranton, Pennsylvania; you’ll discover what’s myth, what’s fact, and what’s in between. We invite you to aid us in this exploration and this pursuit by helping us as members of the public to piece together facts and fictions; if you know of something involving corruption or you’ve heard of someone who just isn’t doing what’s right, let us know. “The Scranton Post” is by the people of Scranton and for the people of Scranton - one issue at a time.
Scranton Today$
I'm wondering what the folks from Scranton Today did with the $100,000 of tax payer money last year?
They didn't pay rent, utilities, taxes, or benefits. Used old/shotty equipment...
